MAPS has been around for over 40 years, doing its thing. I see significant untapped possibilities for MAPS to be even more. And I’m finding others who do, too. This won’t happen overnight, of course. But now is the time to begin raising the level of our profession. For starters, let’s get active in our committees. As evermore channels of communication become available to us, let’s stimulate conversations to gainfully share ideas and knowledge to some objective. Let’s awaken the full potential of a community of professionals working in collaboration toward common goals. . As a professional planetarian, you deserve a professional organization that can help inform your curricula and program development, assist in challenging your school administration’s attempts to close you down, provide support for difficult technology decisions, and so much else. We’re all in this together. Are you ready to roll up your sleeves, and up the ante on the benefits of MAPS membership? To build the professional society we need? One that truly encompasses the full spectrum of professionals we are? or my full Curriculum Vitae, please visit http://research.amnh.org/~slap |
